Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Gossip Girl Actress Michelle Trachtenberg Dies Aged 39

Reports indicate that actress Michelle Trachtenberg, known for her roles in Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Gossip Girl, passed away at age 39. Law enforcement sources state the death is not considered suspicious.

According to ABC News, Trachtenberg's mother discovered her deceased in her New York City apartment near Columbus Circle on Wednesday. ABC News further reported that Trachtenberg had recently undergone a liver transplant and may have experienced subsequent complications.

Authorities believe the death was from natural causes, and foul play is not suspected. An autopsy is pending to officially determine the cause and manner of death.

Trachtenberg's career began at age nine with a role in the Nickelodeon series The Adventures of Pete and Pete. Her feature film debut followed in 1996's Harriet the Spy. She achieved significant recognition for her portrayal of Dawn Summers in Buffy the Vampire Slayer (2000-2003), and later starred in films such as EuroTrip (2004) and Ice Princess (2005). Her memorable role as Georgina Sparks in Gossip Girl (2007-2012) and the HBO Max sequel solidified her place in television history.
