Buffy Reboot Teaser Reveals Sarah Michelle Gellar & New Cast

Author : Caleb Update : Dec 12,2025

Sarah Michelle Gellar, star of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," shared an exclusive behind-the-scenes video introducing Ryan Kiera Armstrong, the fresh face leading Hulu's franchise reboot.

The duo symbolizes two generations of Buffy, with Gellar poised to hand over the slayer mantle to Armstrong—recently seen in "Star Wars: Skeleton Crew"—during the pilot episode of the upcoming revival.

Gellar's Instagram post captures the actresses training together before filming begins. While she previously revealed Armstrong's casting via a screen-recorded call, this marks their first on-camera appearance together.

Reports indicate Armstrong will portray Nova, a new slayer, while Gellar reprises Buffy in the pilot before transitioning to a recurring role—pending Hulu's full-season approval.

The project shows promising momentum: last month's script read-through assembled the cast, writers convened for future episodes, and additional casting details surfaced.

Joining the series are Severance's Sarah Bock as Nova's confidante Gracie, Faly Rakotohavana as lovestruck friend Hugo, and Frasier's Jack Cutmore-Scott as librarian Mr. Burke—an homage to original watcher Giles.

If greenlit post-pilot, production reportedly scales up next spring.

While Gellar remains the sole confirmed returning character, the executive producer expressed hopes for classic cast comebacks. Buffy alum Charisma Carpenter told IGN she'd welcome revisiting her role after Angel's controversial conclusion.
