Blizzard Fails to Extend Diablo 3 Event

Diablo 3's beloved "Fall of Tristram" event, a highlight for many fans, is scheduled to conclude on February 1. Despite community wishes to extend its duration, Blizzard's community manager, pezradar, has confirmed that extending the event is currently unfeasible due to technical limitations. "I asked about Tristram and the possibility of extending it, but unfortunately [the event] is hard-coded and it's impossible to make server-side fixes," pezradar explained.

In addition to the Tristram event, pezradar addressed the delay of Diablo 3's Season 34 of Call of Light, which has disrupted the weekend plans of some players. "I'm sorry. It's not what I was hoping for. We were notified about 24 hours before we had to adjust the time," he stated. The delay stems from the need for the development team to craft new code to facilitate a seamless transition between seasons, following issues with the automatic scheduler that prematurely ended the previous season in early January. "The extra time allows us to implement and test the new code, and ensure that players' progress is transferred smoothly from their accounts," pezradar added, acknowledging the need for improved communication with the player base in the future.

In other gaming news, Wolcen Studio has introduced Project Pantheon, a free-to-play combat role-playing game that incorporates elements of extraction shooter mechanics. The first closed alpha test for European players will commence on January 25, with North American players joining on February 1. "We've blended the tension and risk reward of an extraction shooter with the battle dynamics of combat role-playing games," said game director Andrei Cirkulete, drawing inspiration from games like Diablo and Escape from Tarkov. Players will assume the role of a messenger of Death, tasked with restoring order to a ravaged world.
