Bandai Namco to Shut Down PAC-MAN Mobile

Bandai Namco has made the surprising announcement of the impending shutdown of PAC-MAN Mobile, coinciding ironically with the iconic game's 45th anniversary celebration this year. Launched over a decade ago, this mobile version of the legendary game has been a staple for fans worldwide.

When Is the PAC-MAN Mobile Shutdown?

The official shutdown date for PAC-MAN Mobile is set for May 30th, 2025. As of April 1st, in-app purchases have been discontinued. If you're still enjoying the game, you can continue playing until the final day.

The decision to shut down the game completely rather than converting it to an offline version has left many players disappointed. An offline version would have allowed continued enjoyment and potentially generated some revenue for Bandai Namco.

This iteration of PAC-MAN, formerly known as PAC-MAN + Tournaments, offered more than just the classic arcade experience. In addition to the iconic 8-bit arcade mode, it included a Story Mode with numerous original mazes, an Adventure Mode with limited-time themed events for exclusive skins, and a Tournament Mode featuring weekly maze challenges across three difficulty levels. The game also boasted a variety of skins for PAC-MAN, ghosts, the joystick, and more.

The Reason

Over the past few years, the game has struggled with accumulating bugs and issues, which likely contributed significantly to the decision to shut it down. The initial excitement around its launch on Android, where players competed for high scores and leaderboard rankings, seems like a distant memory now.

If you're eager to experience PAC-MAN Mobile one last time before its shutdown, you can download it from the Google Play Store.
