The stress test for the eighth and possibly final major patch of Baldur's Gate III has now kicked off. While some Sony console players got an early sneak peek at the patch, the developers advise those not keen on testing to simply reinstall the game for the best experience.

Patch 8 brings some exciting updates, with crossplay being a standout feature. This means that players on both consoles and PC can now enjoy the game together seamlessly. You can even invite friends from different platforms, provided you all have a linked Larian account. What's more, modded gameplay will also support cross-platform play, but there are a few conditions to keep in mind. Firstly, all mods used by the PC player must be compatible with Mac and consoles. Secondly, the host’s lobby should not have more than a double-digit number of mods installed.

In terms of multiplayer, a much-anticipated feature is being tested: split-screen co-op on the Xbox Series S. This lower-powered console previously did not support split-screen play, making this update a significant boon for its users.

Other notable additions in Patch 8 include a highly customizable photo mode and the introduction of 12 new subclasses, adding even more depth and variety to the gameplay. Larian Studios has also tackled various bugs and rebalanced game elements, although some issues still linger. You can find a comprehensive list of changes for the stress test on the game's official page.
