Avowed Targets 60FPS on Xbox Series X
Obsidian Entertainment's highly anticipated role-playing game, Avowed, promises to deliver a smooth gaming experience on Xbox Series X by achieving up to 60 frames per second (fps). According to game director Carrie Patel in an interview with MinnMax, players can expect this performance level on Microsoft's more powerful console. However, those playing on the Xbox Series S will be capped at 30fps, as previously announced.
While it remains uncertain whether Avowed will feature the increasingly common performance and graphics modes—where performance mode typically offers 60fps at the cost of visual quality, and graphics mode provides 30fps with enhanced visuals—Patel's comments suggest that the Xbox Series X version may naturally reach 60fps without needing a specific mode.
Scheduled for release on February 13, Avowed will be available at a premium price of $89.99. However, for those opting for the standard price of $69.99, Microsoft has set a later release date of February 18. This tiered pricing and release strategy is a recent trend among publishers, though it has been abandoned by some, such as Ubisoft.
Set within the rich universe of Pillars of Eternity, Avowed is a first-person fantasy RPG that places a strong emphasis on player choice. The game's narrative is deeply woven with themes of war, mystery, and intrigue, allowing players to explore the expansive world and build relationships or rivalries with the characters they encounter.
In IGN's Final Preview, Avowed received accolades for its engaging and nuanced conversations, the freedom it offers players, and overall fun gameplay, highlighting its potential to be a standout title in the RPG genre.
