Avatar: Seven Havens Officially Announced, Set After the Events of The Legend of Korra
Get ready, Avatar fans! Nickelodeon and Avatar Studios have officially announced a brand-new series: Avatar: Seven Havens. To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the beloved original, creators Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko are back, bringing us a thrilling 26-episode, 2D animated adventure.
This new series follows a young Earthbender, the next Avatar after Korra, in a world ravaged by a cataclysmic event. The press release paints a picture of a perilous journey: "A young Earthbender discovers she’s the new Avatar after Korra - but in this dangerous era, that title marks her as humanity’s destroyer, not its savior. Hunted by both human and spirit enemies, she and her long-lost twin must uncover their mysterious origins and save the Seven Havens before civilization’s last strongholds collapse.”
DiMartino and Konietzko shared their excitement, stating, “When we created the original series, we never imagined we’d still be expanding the world decades later. This new incarnation of the Avatarverse is full of fantasy, mystery, and a whole new cast of amazing characters.”
Avatar: Seven Havens will unfold across two 13-episode seasons, structured as Book 1 and Book 2. The creative team includes executive producers Ethan Spaulding and Sehaj Sethi, alongside the returning creators. Casting details are yet to be revealed.
This marks the first mainline TV series from Avatar Studios, who are also hard at work on a feature-length animated film centered on Aang, slated for a theatrical release on January 30, 2026. This film will follow an adult Aang on a new adventure.
The 20th-anniversary celebration extends beyond Seven Havens, encompassing a wave of new books, comics, concerts, toys, and even a Roblox game. It's a momentous occasion for fans, promising a rich expansion of the Avatar universe.
