Atelier Resleriana Closing in Late March
Koei Tecmo has announced the end-of-service for Atelier Resleriana: Forgotten Alchemy and the Polar Night Liberator, just one year after its global launch. All services will cease on March 28th, with in-game purchases ending earlier on January 27th. Several in-game events are planned between now and the shutdown date.
This decision comes after the developers acknowledged their inability to maintain the game's intended standards. Despite ongoing efforts to improve the game and introduce new events, they concluded that continued operation wasn't feasible. Players can still spend their existing Lodestar Gems, but purchasing more is no longer possible.
For many players, this news may not be entirely unexpected. The highly competitive gacha market presents significant challenges for new releases, and Atelier Resleriana, despite promising initial concepts, faced difficulties in several key areas. Criticism frequently targeted the gacha and banner rates, hindering player progression. The alchemy mechanics, a core element of the Atelier series, failed to deliver the expected level of creative engagement. While the gameplay was functional, it lacked the compelling factor needed to compete effectively within the genre.
Looking back, the game's struggles may have been predictable. While many players have expressed a desire for an offline version on Twitter and Reddit, the likelihood of this happening seems slim. If you've enjoyed Atelier Resleriana, make the most of the remaining time before the servers shut down.
