Anointing Guide for Path of Exile 2 (PoE 2)
In the thrilling world of *Path of Exile 2*, enhancing your character's prowess is key, and anointing is a powerful method to do so. Whether you're a seasoned player or new to the franchise, understanding how to anoint your items can significantly boost your gameplay. Here's a detailed guide on how to anoint in *Path of Exile 2*.
How to Get Distilled Emotions in Path of Exile 2
Unlocking the ability to anoint your amulets and Waystones requires Distilled Emotions, which you won't be able to acquire until later in the game. These essential items are obtained from Delirium Maps, reminiscent of Blight Oils from the original game. There are ten distinct types of Distilled Emotions: Despair, Disgust, Envy, Fear, Greed, Guilt, Ire, Isolation, Paranoia, and Suffering.
The primary method to obtain Distilled Emotions is by completing Delirium Maps, which reward you with a random mix of these emotions upon completion. Alternatively, you can acquire them through currency exchange or the trade market if you're looking for specific types. For those aiming to upgrade their Distilled Emotions, the Reforging Bench is your go-to spot. By using three of the same type, you can upgrade to a higher-tier Distilled Emotion of the same kind, giving you precise control over your collection.
For the more daring players, tackling Simulacrum waves offers a chance to drop Distilled Emotions, although it's less efficient than Delirium Maps and requires a robust build due to the increased difficulty.
How to Anoint Items in Path of Exile 2
Anointing in *Path of Exile 2* allows you to enhance both Waystones and amulets. Given the game's current Early Access status, future updates might introduce additional anointing options. To anoint an amulet, start by selecting a Distilled Emotion to access the Instilling window. The specific emotion chosen doesn't impact this initial step. Place your amulet in the central box and then position a Distilled Emotion in each of the three bottom boxes. The required emotions for the desired anointing ability are detailed in the Passive Skill Tree. Simply hover over a Notable Passive Skill and press alt on your keyboard or R3 on your controller to view the necessary emotions.

The skills you choose to anoint can vary depending on your build, and remember, anointing isn't a permanent choice. You can always re-anoint your amulet by repeating the process, allowing you to adapt your skills to suit your current build's needs.
The same anointing process applies to Waystones, which can introduce tougher challenges but also yield better loot. However, keep in mind that neither amulets nor Waystones can be anointed if they're corrupted.
Armed with this knowledge, you're now equipped to enhance your amulets and test your skills with anointed Waystones, adding a strategic layer to your adventures in *Path of Exile 2*.
*Path of Exile 2 is available now on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.*
