"Alicia Silverstone Returns for Clueless Sequel Series"

As if they could resist bringing back Alicia Silverstone in her iconic yellow and plaid. The beloved actress is reportedly set to reprise her role as Cher Horowitz in a new Clueless sequel series for Peacock.

According to Variety, the series is in development, though plot details remain under wraps. What we do know is that Silverstone is on board, and the show will continue the story from the original 1995 film. This project differs from the Clueless spin-off Peacock had planned back in 2020.

The creative team includes Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, known for co-creating the original Gossip Girl and executive producing its reboot. They'll be joined by Jordan Weiss to write and executive produce the series. Amy Heckerling, the original writer-director of Clueless, and Robert Lawrence, the film's original producer, will also executive produce. CBS Studios and Universal Television are set to produce the series.

This isn't the first time Clueless has been adapted for the small screen. Following the film's success, a TV version aired on ABC and UPN from 1996 to 1999, with Rachel Blanchard stepping into the role of Cher instead of Silverstone.

Silverstone recently revisited her Clueless character in a 2023 Super Bowl commercial for Rakuten, showing her enthusiasm for returning to Cher's world. We can't say we blame her!
