First Look at IO Interactive's James Bond Game: 007 First Light

After five years of anticipation since its initial announcement, we're finally getting our first proper glimpse of IO Interactive's upcoming James Bond game. Originally code-named Project 007, the officially titled 007 First Light is scheduled for reveal this week.

The Origin Story Begins

Today's Twitter/X post from IO Interactive featured a shadowy silhouette of what appears to be James Bond, illuminated by a single beam of light with the text "First Light 007" and "Game reveal this week." The "#EarnTheNumber" hashtag suggests the game will focus on Bond's journey to acquire his iconic 007 designation.

The brief teaser didn't provide additional specifics, but industry insiders speculate the full reveal will occur during one of this week's Summer Game Fest events or other early June gaming showcases typical of the season.

What We Know So Far

Originally announced in 2020 as Project 007, details about First Light have remained scarce. The game will present an original Bond origin story rather than adapting existing film plots. IO Interactive CEO Hakan Abrak has expressed ambitions for this to launch a new gaming trilogy, though development has temporarily sidelined the studio's Hitman franchise.

Recent April 2024 reports confirmed the title will release not just for PC, PlayStation, and Xbox, but also for Nintendo's upcoming Switch 2 console.
