Application Description

Dive into the engaging world of Minnesota Whist, a no-trump partnership card game tailored for your smartphone or tablet. This free-to-play game lets you sharpen your card-playing skills against smart AI opponents while tracking your stats to monitor your progress.

Minnesota Whist, a beloved variant in Minnesota and South Dakota, offers a unique twist on traditional whist by omitting trumps. The game's objective shifts based on the bid: aim for seven or more tricks in a "high bid" round, or target six or fewer in a "low bid" round. It's an ideal choice for those looking to enhance their strategic thinking and teamwork in a fun, fast-paced environment.

Collaborate with your AI partner to outsmart your opponents. Whether you're new to trick-taking games or a seasoned player, Minnesota Whist is perfect for honing your skills. Challenge yourself by adjusting the difficulty to hard mode when you're ready to test your mettle. The first partnership to reach the chosen win target, either 13 or 7, emerges victorious.

Customize your gaming experience to suit your preferences:

  • Select your preferred win target
  • Opt for a "set bonus" to add an extra layer of strategy
  • Choose between easy, medium, or hard AI difficulty
  • Switch between normal and fast play modes
  • Play in landscape or portrait mode for comfort
  • Enable or disable single-click play for smoother gameplay
  • Sort cards in ascending or descending order
  • Replay hands from either the play or the bid to analyze your strategy
  • Review previous hands throughout the round to learn and improve

Personalize your visual experience with customizable color themes and card decks, keeping the game fresh and engaging.

Quickfire Rules:

After dealing the cards evenly among four players, each player bids either high (black card) or low (red card). The bids are revealed starting left of the dealer. The first black card turned over signals a 'high' round, where teams aim to win as many tricks as possible. If all bids are red, the round is 'low,' and teams strive to win as few tricks as possible.

In a high bid round, the player to the right of the one who 'granded' leads the first trick. In a low bid round, the player to the left of the dealer starts. Players follow suit if possible; otherwise, they may play any card. The highest card of the led suit wins the trick, and the winner leads the next trick.

Scoring occurs at the end of each round. In a high bid round, the 'granded' team scores a point for every trick over six. If they fail to reach seven tricks, the opposing team scores 1 or 2 points per trick over six, depending on the 'set bonus' setting. In a low bid round, teams score a point for each trick under seven.
