Application Description

You might believe that ADW Launcher 2, the original and best launcher of all time, hasn't seen an update in a while. But let me tell you, from a non-linear, non-subjective perspective, we actually released this update three years ago—you just didn't notice! And don't worry, we get it; not everyone has 1.21 gigawatts to spare on updates.

We've been diving deep into Google's recommendations on how to handle app options and settings, and we've discussed it extensively. But remember, just because we can speak doesn't mean we're intelligent. We've done the opposite. Without freedom of choice, there's no creativity. The Launcher bores.

You might find the plethora of settings a bit overwhelming, and we don't blame you. That's a totally normal reaction. Maybe you're not ready for it yet, but trust us, your kids will love it. With the possibility of configuring it to your likeness at approximately 3720 to 1, the math doesn't lie—it's the best launcher out there.

Yes, we've got screens, icons, and widgets galore. You can even create your own! If pre-made is more your speed, dive into our themes, widget packs, and template packs. Is your device's desktop feeling a bit dull? Change it again, Sam. Your style, your rules. Whether you choose to tweak it or not, there's a setting for that—shake it up, not stirred.

And don't forget, "There's no such thing as 'the unknown,' only options inside ADW Settings." Are you going to miss out on this?

Endless Features

Most of the application has been reprogrammed and redesigned from scratch. We've also introduced a plethora of new features. Here's a sneak peek at some of them:

  • Support for Android 7.1 launcher shortcuts (limited support on older versions down to 5.x)
  • New icons effects section where you can choose image filters and compositions. It's awesome!
  • Dynamic UI coloring using wallpaper colors for a fresh look every time.
  • A new way to manage screens—just hold down an empty area of the desktop.
  • New methods to add widgets and shortcuts, making customization a breeze.
  • New ways to change the wallpaper, lock/unlock the desktop, or access settings by holding down an empty area of the desktop and choosing your option.
  • Fast scroll app drawer style for quick navigation.
  • Indexed fast scroll app drawer style for even more efficient app access.
  • Some desktop transitions to keep things smooth and interesting.
  • A new section to configure icon badges, letting you personalize even more.
  • A visual mode to configure the desktop, icon appearance, folder appearance, and app drawer options.
  • Options to change the top panel/widget and the content type of the bottom panel (dock/widget).
  • A new wrap folder mode for folders. Tap to launch the first app in the folder, and swipe up to see the folder contents.
  • A fast application search in the app drawer to find what you need instantly.
  • Improved app categories in the app drawer for better organization.
  • An enhanced way to manage user gestures for a more intuitive experience.
  • An improved method to apply internal and external themes for that perfect look.
  • An enhanced context menu for all desktop objects, giving you more control.
  • A new Custom Widget object. Add new custom widgets from the widget list, import them from friends and other developers, create, edit, and share your own.
  • Initial extensions for the custom widgets, like time and battery, with more available in the ADWExtensions pack (weather, Gmail, etc).
  • A template manager to easily remove, add, and share templates.
  • An improved icon properties dialog for finer customization.
  • An improved folder properties dialog for better folder management.
  • A backup manager in advanced settings/system to import data from other popular launchers (if we've missed one, let us know so we can include it!)
  • The ability to set a secondary action on desktop shortcuts. Just swipe up over the desktop shortcut to execute the secondary action.
  • And probably 2 or 200 things we're forgetting...
  • A bunch of wibbly wobbly timey wimey stuff inside!
