Short Circuit Studio has just rolled out a thrilling new update for their recently launched settlement builder, TownsFolk. Dubbed "Shadows and Fortune," this update perfectly complements the game's darker, pixel-art aesthetic with a slew of new mechanics that promise to deepen the gameplay experience.

Even though TownsFolk is fresh on the market, the developers are not holding back on adding substantial content. The "Shadows and Fortune" update introduces roaming Barbarians that will ramp up the tension in both campaign missions and Skirmish mode. These new threats will keep you on your toes as you manage your settlement. Additionally, eight new structures have been added to the game: the Altar, the Town Square, the Blacksmith, the Aqueduct, the Bank, the Granary, the Factory, and the Terraformer. Each of these buildings brings its own unique functionality and strategic depth to your town-building endeavors.

The update also brings new life to water tiles with the introduction of the rare Whale, enhancing the visual and strategic elements of the game's aquatic environments. Moreover, Special Locations such as ancient Obelisks and new Shipwrecks add an element of unpredictability and exploration to your journeys.

TownsFolk: Shadows and Fortune Update

To help you navigate through the expanded world of TownsFolk, a new Compendium has been introduced, serving as an in-game encyclopedia to keep track of all the new elements. The Exploration System has also been revamped, and players can now adjust Campaign Difficulties between Frontier and Survival modes, catering to different play styles and skill levels.

TownsFolk is available for free-to-play on the App Store and Google Play, with in-app purchases available for those looking to enhance their experience further.
