Another Unexpected Turn?
At Anime Expo 2024 in Los Angeles, RGG Studio hosted the "Essence of Fandom: Like a Dragon & Yakuza Experience." The event, moderated by Linda "VampyBitMe" Le, featured Like a Dragon Chief Producer Hiroyuki Sakamoto and Ichiban Kasuga's voice actor, Kazuhiro Nakaya.
During the event, attendees received a tantalizing hint about the studio's upcoming project: "We can't tell you what kind of game it is, but I will tell you, you'll be surprised." This was reported by @TheYakuzaGuy on Twitter, who confirmed it's a new addition to the Like a Dragon franchise.
Given the series' shift to a JRPG format in the seventh mainline entry, the nature of this "surprise" remains highly speculative. Possibilities range from a rhythm game based on the popular karaoke mini-game, a spin-off featuring other series characters, or even a remake or sequel to past spin-offs like Yakuza: Dead Souls or the Japan-exclusive Ryu ga Gotoku Kenzan.
