During Sony's recent State of Play showcase, the announcement of Days Gone Remastered caught the attention of many, but it has left some PlayStation Plus subscribers feeling frustrated due to its $10 upgrade policy. Sony has clarified that the $10 upgrade to the remastered version on PlayStation 5 is exclusively available to those who own the PlayStation 4 disc or a digital copy of Days Gone. Unfortunately, this means that players who obtained the game through the PS Plus subscription service, including those who redeemed it from the now-defunct PS Plus Collection or as an Essential monthly game in April 2021, are not eligible for the discounted upgrade. Instead, they must pay the full price of $49.99 to access the PS5 remastered version.

This decision has sparked a wave of discontent among PS Plus subscribers, many of whom have taken to online forums to voice their dissatisfaction. A notable thread on the PlayStation Plus subreddit is filled with comments from subscribers who express their willingness to pay the $10 upgrade fee but are unwilling to purchase the game at full price. Users like squarejellyfish_ argue that Sony could have earned a significant amount if PS Plus players were allowed to upgrade, as many would be willing to pay $10 to try the remastered version for a short period. Similarly, teckn9ne79 and dredizzle99 have stated they would opt for the $10 upgrade but will not buy the game at full price, reflecting a sentiment that Sony is missing out on potential sales from the PS Plus community.

Jackanyon95 pointed out the irony of the situation, noting that since the game was previously offered for free through PS Plus, every $10 upgrade from these subscribers would be additional revenue for Sony. However, the company's decision to exclude PS Plus owners from the upgrade has been labeled as "awkward" and "stingy" by some fans, who feel that Sony is not being generous enough.

While some subscribers understand that Sony's decision might be based on financial calculations, the general consensus among many is one of disappointment. Despite this, Days Gone Remastered was not the only highlight of the State of Play event.
