Developed by Black Wing Game Studio with contributions from former Persona 5 developers, Persona 5: The Phantom X adopts a free-to-play model. This includes a gacha system that allows players to summon various characters to join their party, adding an exciting element to the gameplay.

In Persona 5: The Phantom X, you'll step into the role of a new protagonist, leading a fresh crew of Phantom Thieves. Together, you'll navigate a stylized version of modern-day Tokyo, exploring new palaces and mementos. The game maintains the series' beloved turn-based combat and dual-life rhythm, while introducing light social simulation elements and dungeon crawling. Players can also engage with a guild system and participate in the PvE mode known as Velvet Trials, with some familiar faces from the original Persona 5 making appearances.

The narrative begins with the protagonist waking from a nightmare to find themselves in a twisted version of reality. Along their journey, they'll encounter a talking owl named Lefaye and the iconic Velvet Room crew, including the unsettling long-nosed man and his assistants.
