Free Alarm Sound Updates on the Way!

Priced at $99, the "Nintendo Sound Clock: Alarmo" is an interactive alarm clock designed to make waking up feel like stepping into a Nintendo game. Featuring alarm sounds from popular franchises like Mario, Zelda, and Splatoon, with more free updates promised, the Alarmo uses motion detection to ensure you're truly out of bed before silencing the alarm. The rising alarm intensity encourages even the sleepiest among us to rise and shine!

Setup is straightforward: choose a game theme, select a scene, set your alarm, and let the Alarmo's interactive features take over. While waving your hand at the clock will temporarily quiet the alarm, lingering in bed will only make it louder.

Utilizing a unique radio wave sensor, the Alarmo measures distance and movement speed without using video recording, prioritizing user privacy. According to developer Tetsuya Akama, this technology allows for detection of subtle movements, even in dark rooms or with obstacles present, as long as the radio waves can penetrate.

Early Access and Availability

Nintendo Switch Online members in the US and Canada enjoy exclusive early access via the My Nintendo Store for a limited time. The Alarmo will also be available in-person at the Nintendo New York store, while supplies last.

A New Nintendo Switch Online Playtest

Applications Open October 10th!

In other news, Nintendo has announced a Switch Online playtest, with applications opening October 10th, 8:00 AM PT / 11:00 AM ET and closing October 15th, 7:59 AM PT / 10:59 AM ET. Up to 10,000 participants will be selected globally, with a first-come, first-served basis for non-Japanese applicants. The playtest itself runs from October 23rd to November 5th, 2024.

Eligibility Requirements:

• Active Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack membership as of October 9th, 2024, 3:00 PM PDT.
• At least 18 years old as of October 9th, 2024, 3:00 PM PDT.
• Nintendo Account registered in Japan, the USA, UK, France, Germany, Italy, or Spain.
