"Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 Sells 2 Million Copies in Under 2 Weeks"
The success of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 continues to soar, with the game now selling an impressive 2 million copies in less than two weeks. Warhorse Studios, the developer behind this medieval Europe action role-playing game sequel, celebrated this milestone with a tweet, calling it a "triumph." This follows their earlier celebration when the game hit 1 million sales just a day after its launch on February 4, available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S.
Last week, Embracer, the parent company of Warhorse Studios, highlighted the game's strong performance on Steam, where it achieved over 250,000 peak concurrent players. This is a significant increase compared to the first Kingdom Come: Deliverance, which peaked at 96,069 concurrent players on Steam seven years ago. Although the exact peak concurrent player count for Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 across all platforms remains undisclosed due to Sony and Microsoft's policies, it's clear that the game's success extends beyond PC.
Embracer, through its subsidiary Plaion, praised the game's success, noting its positive reception among both players and critics, as well as its strong performance. Lars Wingefors, CEO of Embracer, emphasized the dedication of Warhorse Studios and publisher Deep Silver, expressing confidence in the game's potential for sustained revenue growth over the coming years. He also mentioned a robust roadmap for the game, which includes updates and new content for the next 12 months, ensuring a continuously evolving experience for the community.
Looking ahead, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 has an exciting post-launch roadmap planned for 2025. Spring will bring free updates, including a Barbers feature for additional customization, Hardcore Mode, and Horse Racing. The first paid content, "Brushes with Death," is set for summer and follows protagonist Henry as he assists a mysterious artist with a shadowy past. Autumn will see the release of "Legacy of the Forge," delving into Henry's adoptive father Martin's history. Finally, winter will introduce "Mysteria Ecclesia," where Henry undertakes a covert mission at the Sedlec Monastery.
