GOG Revives Dino Crisis 1 and 2 for PC Gamers
The beloved cult classics, Dino Crisis and Dino Crisis 2, have roared back to life with re-releases on PC through GOG. As part of GOG's Preservation Program, both original PlayStation survival horror games are now available DRM-free, ensuring that their original content remains fully intact.
Originally, Capcom launched Dino Crisis on the PlayStation in 1999, followed by Dino Crisis 2 in 2000. A third installment, Dino Crisis 3, emerged as an Xbox exclusive in 2003, but fans have been left waiting for a new entry ever since. Despite fervent fan calls for a new game or an HD remake, Capcom appears uninterested. The release of Exoprimal in 2022, a multiplayer-focused action game with dinosaurs, was perceived by many as the final nail in the coffin for the Dino Crisis series. Additionally, in August of the previous year, the series' creator Shinji Mikami noted that the success of Capcom's Monster Hunter franchise leaves little room for a Dino Crisis reboot or remake.
Previously, PC ports of the first two Dino Crisis games were challenging to find and run on modern systems, making GOG's efforts highly appreciated. GOG celebrates the re-release, stating, "Thanks to the tremendous efforts of Capcom and GOG, Regina’s iconic line, 'You’re extinct!' no longer applies to the game itself. The timeless thriller that defined a generation of gamers is made to last forever, enhanced for today’s systems, featuring all the original content you loved with numerous improvements."
