Civ 7 Ghandi DLC Might Be Coming After All
Firaxis Games, developers of Civilization VII, have indicated that the return of Mahatma Gandhi as a playable leader is not entirely off the table, suggesting a potential future DLC release. This follows an interview with lead designer Ed Beach, where the decision to omit certain historical figures and civilizations from the base game was explained.

Gandhi's Potential Comeback
In a recent February 13, 2025 IGN interview, Beach addressed fan concerns regarding the absence of familiar civilizations like Great Britain and India. He confirmed that these omissions weren't due to oversight, but rather a necessary decision to make room for new and exciting additions to the game's roster. While some favorites were left out of the initial launch, Beach assures players that the possibility of their inclusion in future updates or DLC remains. Gandhi's return, therefore, is still a possibility.
Beach clarified that the sheer number of popular choices made it impossible to include them all. The developers prioritized introducing fresh options to keep the game feeling innovative. However, he emphasized that Firaxis is considering the long-term strategy for adding leaders and civilizations, leaving open the door for Gandhi's eventual return.
Given the extensive DLC history of Civilization VI, the likelihood of Gandhi appearing in Civilization VII as DLC is high. However, no firm release date or timeline has been provided.
