Author : Joshua Update : May 14,2025

Earlier this year, Dell revitalized the iconic Alienware Area-51 line of prebuilt gaming PCs, initially offering only the RTX 5080 as a graphics card option. However, the landscape has changed, and you can now equip your system with the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 GPU, the most powerful graphics card currently available on the market. Excitingly, one of the two preconfigured systems featuring this powerhouse is currently on sale.

This Alienware Area-51 configuration is now available for $4,999.99 after a $500 instant discount. It comes packed with an Intel Core Ultra 9 285K processor, 32GB of DDR5-6400MHz RAM, and a spacious 2TB SSD. The Core Ultra 9 285K, Intel's latest flagship CPU, delivers exceptional performance for both gaming and workstation tasks. While it doesn't provide the leap we hoped for from the i9-14900K, it remains Intel's top all-around CPU. The system is cooled efficiently with a 360mm all-in-one liquid cooler and powered by a robust 1,500W Platinum power supply.

New for 2025: The Alienware Area-51 Chassis

Dell showcased the revamped Alienware Area-51 at CES 2025. While maintaining a design similar to the 2024 R16 system, it introduces aesthetic and cooling enhancements along with updated components. The I/O panel has been relocated to the top of the case, and the side panel now features a full tempered glass window, eliminating the need for side vents. Air intakes are strategically placed at the bottom and front of the case, promoting a positive airflow design that minimizes dust accumulation. Internally, the system boasts a new motherboard, faster RAM, and a more powerful power supply to support the latest CPUs and GPUs.

The RTX 5090 Is the Most Powerful Graphics Card Ever

The Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 stands as the pinnacle of consumer GPUs currently available. Nvidia has focused on software enhancements, AI capabilities, and DLSS 4 technology to boost gaming performance. Despite these advancements, the RTX 5090 showcases a significant 25%-30% increase in raw hardware-based raster performance over the RTX 4090. It also features 32GB of faster GDDR7 VRAM compared to the 4090's 24GB GDDR6. However, due to its high demand, the RTX 5090 is scarce at retail prices, often selling for $3,500-$4,000 on eBay.

Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 FE Review by Jackie Thomas

"The Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 has claimed the performance crown from the RTX 4090, albeit with a less dramatic generational leap than in the past. In traditional gaming scenarios without AI assistance, the RTX 5090 offers one of the smallest performance increases we've seen recently. Yet, in titles that support DLSS 4, the technology delivers substantial performance boosts, albeit with a significant portion (75%) of the frames being AI-generated."
