Als Grund für die Verzögerung wird weithin spekuliert, dass Nintendo eine Patentverletzungsklage vor einem Gericht in Tokio eingereicht hat. Diese Klage zielt auf einstweilige Verfügungen und Schadensersatz ab, was sich möglicherweise auf den weiteren Betrieb von Palworld auswirkt und sogar dazu führen kann, dass das Unternehmen vom Markt genommen wird.
