Hogwarts Legacy 2 is Warner Bros. Discovery hat nach über 24 Millionen verkauften Exemplaren des erfolgreichen Action-Rollenspiels „Hogwarts Legacy“ offiziell seine Absicht bekannt gegeben, eine Fortsetzung zu entwickeln. Wie Variety berichtet, gab CFO Gunnar Wiedenfels diese Neuigkeiten während der Medien-, Kommunikations- und Unterhaltungskonferenz 2024 der Bank of America bekannt.

Wiedenfels erklärte: „Eine Fortsetzung von Hogwarts Legacy hat für uns in den kommenden Jahren höchste Priorität. Wir erwarten ein erhebliches Wachstum unseres Spielegeschäfts und dieses Projekt ist ein wichtiger Teil dieser Strategie.“

Hogwarts Legacy 2 is Anfang dieses Jahres betonte David Haddad von Warner Bros. Games, dass der bemerkenswerte Wiederspielwert des Spiels ein wesentlicher Faktor für seinen Erfolg sei. In einem Interview mit Variety betonte Haddad: „Viele Spieler haben sich das Spiel mehrmals angesehen.“ Er zeigte sich nicht nur stolz auf die Verkaufszahlen und den Wiederspielwert, sondern auch auf die einzigartige Leistung des Spiels: „Es erweckte Harry Potter auf eine frische, fesselnde Art und Weise für die Spieler zum Leben und ermöglichte ihnen, diese Welt und Geschichte wirklich zu bewohnen.“

Haddad glaubt, dass dies bei den Fans großen Anklang gefunden hat und Hogwarts Legacy zum meistverkauften Spiel des Jahres gemacht hat. Er fügte hinzu: „Diese Position wird normalerweise von Fortsetzungen etablierter Franchise-Unternehmen eingenommen, daher sind wir unglaublich stolz auf diese Leistung.“
