VNeID Application for Electronic Identification and Authentication

The VNeID application, developed by the National Population Data Center under the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam, leverages population data for electronic identification and authentication. It caters to individuals residing in or traveling through Vietnam.

The VNeID application serves as a digital substitute for traditional documentation, facilitating citizen identification in digital spaces. It plays a pivotal role in fostering digital citizenship, digital government, and digital society. Users can utilize the app for health declarations and swift domestic travel reports. Additionally, it aids authorities in tracking secondary COVID-19 infections and promptly notifying affected individuals.

Access Permissions:

By using the VNeID application, users consent to the app accessing the following functions:

1. Internet Access: The app requires internet access from the user's device.
2. Camera Access: To scan the QR code on the Citizen Identification Card (CCCD), which streamlines the entry of basic citizen information and enables quick scanning for travel and medical declarations.
3. Media and File Access: The application needs access to photos, videos, audio, and files on the device to store QR code images, which are essential for verification at citizen checkpoints.
4. Notification Permissions: The app sends notifications to the user's device.

Personal Information Collection:

Users input their data, including medical and domestic travel information, or declare on behalf of others with their consent. The collected personal information encompasses full name, phone number, citizen identification, gender, year of birth, permanent address, nationality, health status, departure and destination details, vehicle registration number, and exposure to individuals with COVID-19. All such data is collected with the user's explicit permission through form submissions.

Users are fully responsible for their actions and the accuracy of the information they provide.

Privacy and Copyright Protection:

The National Population Data Center, Ministry of Public Security, ensures the security and storage of user data, which is exclusively utilized for COVID-19 prevention and control efforts, safeguarding public health and disease prevention. This data will not be used for commercial purposes or to infringe on personal privacy. Information may be shared with Health Authorities and other relevant agencies to enhance COVID-19 prevention strategies.

The application developer does not collect or use user information for any purposes beyond those mentioned. No information will be disclosed that could harm or violate user privacy according to Vietnamese law or the application's policy.

• No Location Collection: VNeID does not gather any data regarding your location.
• Anonymity: Users participate anonymously within the community. Only authorized entities can access information about infected individuals and those suspected of infection due to close contact with COVID-19 cases, to conduct necessary tracing.
