Jharrel Jerome, star of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, has confirmed that production on the highly anticipated third installment, Beyond the Spider-Verse, hasn't even begun. He revealed in an interview with Decider that he hasn't yet recorded any lines, indicating a significant delay before the film's release.

Jerome stated that numerous aspects of the production are still "being figured out," suggesting a complex pre-production phase. This delay isn't entirely unexpected, considering the five-year gap between the first and second films.

"No, I wish," Jerome responded when asked about the commencement of production. "We haven’t started up yet. A lot of things being figured out, but good things."

53 ImagesWhile Jerome's role in Across the Spider-Verse was relatively minor, his character is poised to become a central antagonist in Beyond the Spider-Verse. Spoiler alert for Across the Spider-Verse’s ending: He portrays Miles G. Morales from Earth-42, revealed at the film's conclusion as the Prowler, not Spider-Man.

In this alternate reality, the radioactive spider bite intended for Miles instead bit Peter Parker, altering the course of both their lives. Following Peter Parker's death, this universe fell under the control of supervillains, with Miles G. Morales ultimately becoming one of them.

The narrative of this alternate Miles and his conflict with the main protagonist Miles will likely be central to Beyond the Spider-Verse. However, fans should anticipate a considerable wait, with Deadline suggesting a release no earlier than 2026, or potentially as late as 2028 if the production timeline mirrors that of the previous film.
