Nach einer bedeutenden kreativen Überholung nach den Streiks wurde Produzent Dario Scardapane zum neuen Showrunner für die Serie ernannt. Diese Änderung markierte einen Wendepunkt für Bernthal, als er eine passende Rolle für Frank in *Daredevil: Again *Born *sah.

"Sie haben mich wirklich ins Gespräch gebracht", sagte Bernthal über die Zusammenarbeit mit Scardapane, mit der er zuvor in der Punisher -Serie und Marvel zusammengearbeitet hatte. "Wir haben uns wirklich spezifisch darum gemacht, wo Frank psychologisch ist, wo Frank physisch anfährt."
